Paul and his wife have five children and several totally adorable grandchildren, of whom Paul will be happy to show you pictures if you ask. Paul is a director of the El Paso County Bar Foundation and spent several years as a Big Brother volunteer. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Linklaters from 2013 to 2016 and a member of the Advisory Board of the Master of Law and Finance at the University of Oxford from 2011 to 2017. Paul Lewis has been Linklaters` firm-wide Managing Partner since July 2021. In this role, Paul is responsible for the overall management of Linklaters and chairs the Company`s Executive Committee and Partnership Board of Directors. Prior to this role, Paul was Global Practice Leader for the firm`s finance department, which included banking, capital markets, energy and infrastructure, financial regulation, mutual funds, real estate, and restructuring and insolvency. In May 2019, Paul was appointed Chief Financial Officer at Linklaters, which includes banking, capital markets, energy and infrastructure, financial supervision, investment funds, real estate, restructuring and insolvency. In this role, he sits on Linklaters` Executive Committee. Paul has a general business practice focused on commercial disputes, intellectual property protection, employment and transactional matters. Paul also acts as a mediator in complex commercial disputes.

Paul`s vision of legal practice can best be summed up in an effort by his former partner Charles Luce: “A good lawyer will go through the fire to achieve his client`s goals. He also feels like he`s not transporting a client into a burning house, even if the client wants to go. Paul spent nearly three decades practicing law at two major Seventeenth Street firms, Sherman & Howard, LLC and Moye White, LLP, before deciding it was time to embark on the next big adventure and found his current firm in 2012. Paul graduated from Stanford Law School in 1984, Weber State University in 1981, and Manitou Springs High School in 1974. Prior to becoming a firm-wide managing partner, Paul was a capital markets partner specializing in derivatives and structured securities. He was also Global Co-Head of Innovation at Linklaters and advised on a number of fintech issues. He has been at the forefront of Linklaters` distributed ledger technology and smart contract initiatives and lead author of the ISDA/Linklaters joint paper on smart contracts “Smart Contracts and Distributed Ledger – A Legal Perspective”. Paul served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979 as an explosive ordnance disposal technician when he was honorably discharged. His assignments included Incirlik CDI, Turkey and Hill AFB, Utah. He is a lawyer from England and Wales and qualified since 1999.
